As I read it... my first thought...very cut and dry. Black and White. I have a hard time making a black and white statement. It did make me think! I think motive comes into play. Mistakes aren't on purpose. You might make a mistake a couple of times before you realize the pattern of decision making. We do have Grace....just my thinking process. Still thinking!
I agree. I think that some things, sure that may be the truth about. But other times, you do make a mistake twice. Example... you take a test and get some answers wrong (mistake #1). You are then offered an opportunity to re-take the test and get one of the same questions wrong (mistake #2). Was it a choice? No. I know that's probably not what the quote is referring to, but if someone is making a blanket statement, it ought to be able to cover most all. In regards to other areas of life, relationships and what not... sometimes as mentioned above, the pattern hasn't been realized. Maybe if the person has acknowledge the mistake, or the issue, that could be the case... but it's too hard to say, without the situation!
Those who posted above couldn't have said it better! I think of sin here too. Sometimes (and I'm not trying to sugar-coat it at all) the temptation is just too strong. Sometimes, we don't want to do the things we do but the flesh-man in us is so strong that we slip up. That is where Grace comes in as was said. Man am I thankful for grace!!
